Sustainability and social engagement go hand in hand at TU Wien: on 13 January, TU Wien’s first returnable deposit box was installed on the Getreidemarkt campus. Staff and students can easily return bottles and cans there, thereby actively contributing to the environment and the community.

All proceeds from the collected returnable containers go towards the Studien-Erfolgs-Hilfe” scheme, which supports students facing challenging life situations – a simple concept with a big impact.

The project was initiated by the Faculty of Technical Chemistry. The first deposit box is located on the Getreidemarkt campus, opposite the security desk in the BA building. By collecting and recycling returnable containers, valuable resources are conserved, waste is reduced and the circular economy is actively promoted.

If the response to the project is positive, there are plans to extend it to other TU Wien sites.

We look forward to receiving plenty of contributions and would like to thank you warmly for your support. Together, we are sending a strong message of sustainability, solidarity and cohesion at TU Wien.
