From July 27 to 31, 2026, the 17th European Summer School on Information Retrieval (ESSIR), opens an external URL in a new window took place in Bucharest, Romania. Our team member, Florina Piroi, was one of the three school chairs and also delivered a lecture on Research Data Management for Information Retrieval. Participants of the Summer School were PhD students and established researchers in the domain.
In her presentation, Florina Piroi covered the main components of the RDM processes, using the FAIR principles as a framework for achieving reproducible research. Planning how data is to be handled already in the early phases of any research project is a key activity for high-quality research outputs.
Presenting examples from her research career in Computer Science and showcasing RDM tools available at TU Wien, she gave the school participants a set of recommendations for improving their research impact through RDM.
