In our flagship project Trans|formator:in, we have reached a major milestone: the publication of the practical handbook on the transformation of public mobility spaces. The handbook is now available as an Open-Access PDF and in print.
Many cities today face the challenge of rethinking their street spaces: How can mobility, safety, and quality of life be balanced? The practical handbook offers guidance on this and uses concrete examples and methods to demonstrate how transformation processes in public spaces can succeed.
Here’s what readers can expect in the handbook:
- Good practice examples – from Göfis to Ljubljana and Paris
- Practical methods and concise guidance through all project phases
- An overview of the legal framework in Austria
- Argumentation aids for administration, politics, and society
- Barriers and possible solutions
Special thanks go to the editors Jonathan Fetka and Martin Berger (MOVE) for pushing forward, coordinating, and co-authoring the handbook. We were able to contribute our expertise through contributions by Barbara Laa, Lisa Gallian, and Harald Frey. Our thanks also go to the entire consortium, which contributed numerous additional articles — including Jonathan Fetka, Florian Pühringer, Barbara Russo, Eva Schwab, Gunnar Grandel, Angelika Rauch, Lukas Franta, Valentin J. Gebhardt, Christina Kirchmair, Magdalena Holzer, Robert Luger, Julia Simhandl, Anke Meier, Felix Wernisch, the Austrian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and PRISMA solutions.
