One of the most powerful tools in education quality management for evaluating and further developing the curricula is used in close cooperation with representatives of the various fields of study: the peer review process. Currently, as part of these proceedings, the on-site visits by external experts take place at TU Wien. In November and December 2025, external experts of Technical Chemistry and Architecture were at the TU Wien, and in the first week of January 2026 of Civil Engineering.

During this visit, the premises, laboratories, lecture halls and study rooms were inspected. In numerous discussions with students and graduates, representatives from business and industry, engineering firms, professional associations, and, of course, teachers and faculty representatives, study plans and the environment for students and teachers were discussed and debated.

After the visit, the external evaluators will prepare a written report with recommendations for the further development of our programms and the study environment.

Peer review procedures have been under way since 2024 in the fields of Technical Chemistry, Technical Physics, Architecture, and Civil Engineering. The fields of Chemical and Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering – Management began in 2022 and were completed in 2024.

With the peer review now complete, work on the final report can continue within the committees. In the field of Process Engineering, for example, representatives from the study commission, the dean of studies, the senate, and the rectorate have already implemented many of the recommendations, and the new curriculum for the bachelor's programme has already come into effect.
