Open Science Day 2026

This year's Open Science Day took place on 13 May at TU Wien Bibliothek under the theme "Open Science in Action: Services, Strategies, Success!"

Over 80 registered guests attended the Open Science Day event on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, in the lecture room of the library. Following an engaging keynote speech by Katharina Ehrmann, opens an external URL in a new window, who discussed the individual steps and the significance of open science in today’s academic system, the first session featured illustrative examples of citizen science. Following a presentation on the Open Science services at TU Wien, the afternoon programme continued with two workshops on TU Wien’s publication services, on the topics of journal publishing, and the university’s support services for researchers in Open Science. The final session included insightful presentations on the European Open Science Cloud and the challenges facing science between policy and industry.

The response from participants was positive; there were thoughtful questions and welcome networking opportunities during the breaks.
