The TU Wien, in collaboration with BIG, is continuing to drive forward the expansion of renewable energy and is installing two new solar power systems at the Arsenal location at Franz-Grill-Straße 4 and 8.

The installation at Franz-Grill-Straße 4, comprising 603 modules covering 1,205 sqm, delivers around 271 kWp and generates approximately 290,000 kWh of solar power annually – around 15 % of the building’s energy requirements. The second system adds a further 175 kWp to the site: 390 modules covering 779 sqm generate around 191,000 kWh per year, covering approximately 10% of the building’s electricity consumption.

Both systems feed their entire output directly into the on-site grid, thereby strengthening the campus’s energy self-sufficiency. With this additional photovoltaic capacity, TU Wien is sending a clear signal for climate protection, energy efficiency and future-oriented campus development.
