By coincidence, our major Sentinel-1 Global Flood Monitoring (GFM) paper went online at the same time as Sentinel-1D was heading into its orbit.

Our invited contribution to the Special Issue “Ten years of Sentinel-1 in space” went online. We would like to say big thanks to European Space Agency not just for the invitation, but much more so for developing such an amazing SAR mission!

By coincidence, on the same day (Nov 4, 2025) Sentinel-1D has been launched. The satellite will join the Sentinel-1 mission, to provide radar vision for the Copernicus Earth observation programme. The Sentinel-1C and Sentinel-1D satellites will be orbiting on opposite sides of the globe, 180° apart, to improve global coverage and data delivery. More information here, opens an external URL in a new window.
