Obituary for Prof. Dr. Jakob Maurer (1929–2025)

Throughout his life, Prof. Dr. Jakob Maurer integrated academic research, teaching and planning practice, and always presented his positions with great commitment in dialogue, using precise and convincing arguments. From an Austrian and Viennese perspective, his work is inextricably linked to the planning and design of the Vienna Danube Island as a flood protection project and, at the same time, as a recreation and leisure space in conjunction with the procedural innovations of the Vienna Model/test planning, opens an external URL in a new window [de]. Prof. Maurer passed away on 30 May 2025 at the age of 96. We will remember him fondly.
