MOVE.Walk #3: Exploring Vienna’s Cycling Infrastructure with Radlobby

Together with Roland Romano, the participants explored current cycling projects, infrastructure challenges, and planning approaches in Vienna’s 4th and 5th districts.

The MOVE.Walk #3 started on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in front of St. Charles’s Church and proceeded along Lothringerstraße to Schwarzenbergplatz, where intersection issues for cyclists were analyzed. Particular attention was paid to Argentinierstraße, which was presented and discussed as one of Vienna’s flagship projects for modern cycling infrastructure. The tour continued via St.-Elisabeth-Platz to Schelleingasse/Gassergasse. Afterward, participants inspected the current construction of the new bike path on Wiedner Hauptstraße.

The route continued to TU Wien and via Operngasse and Margaretenstraße to Rechte Wienzeile, where the inadequately developed connecting bike path at Raritäteneck was discussed. Via Magdalenenstraße and Linke Wienzeile, the group rode along the Naschmarkt back to Karlsplatz.

During the tour, Roland Romano from Radlobby provided fascinating insights into current challenges, ongoing projects, and the work of the Radlobby. Together, participants critically examined positive developments and existing problem areas.
