Passed the oral examination with honors – Congratulations to Paul Wegerer

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations on passing your oral defense with honors!

As part of his dissertation, Paul Wegerer developed a highly efficient technology for temperature control of timber beam supports in externally insulated exterior walls. The work focuses on the development and building physics evaluation of an active beam head temperature control system to reduce the risk of moisture and rot in timber beam supports within these structures. The research is based on extensive bench tests in a dual-climate chamber as well as several years of in-situ measurements on actual buildings. Through a unique metrological measurement of the airtightness of masonry, the convective moisture flow through a typical Wilhelminian-era wall was quantified. The thesis was written under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Thomas Bednar.
