The spatial and functional concept, developed in collaboration with researchers from the Faculty of Physics, was approved at the steering group meeting of the Department for Space, Sustainable Planning and Higher Education Learning Environments of the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) on the 19th of May 2026.

In close collaboration with the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG – Federal Real Estate Agency) and external experts, the urban planning framework was defined, the location of the individual functions at the Arsenal site was determined, and a shared urban planning vision was developed.

Currently, the final details for the application for planning approval are being finalised. This will lay the groundwork for initiating the next planning stage for the new Physics Campus.
