The TU Transformer connects young people with research and innovation, making science directly accessible through interactive formats. Since July 2026, our Biophysics Research Unit has also been part of the initiative with its own microscopy station.
At our station, the focus is on hands-on exploration, close observation, and discovery. Participants examine a variety of samples under the microscope and uncover structures and details that remain invisible to the naked eye. Along the way, they become familiar with scientific equipment and gain first-hand insight into how research works – in a curious, playful, and engaging way.
Our aim is to introduce children and teenagers to science and research, spark their curiosity, and show them how exciting it can be to observe, experiment, and make new discoveries themselves.
Caroline Kopittke supervises the project station and supports the young researchers as they explore and make their own discoveries.
Our microscopy station also attracted particular attention during a visit by Innovation Minister Peter Hanke in September 2026.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Katarina Radivojevic and Luka Menzel, who provided valuable support in planning and implementing the project station as part of their internship.
