Together, the MBD15 project consortium explored Seestadt and the Sonnwendviertel – two case studies within the project that offer fascinating insights into car park management and the design of public spaces. During the visit, participants exchanged and discussed experiences and knowledge from their respective countries.

A key part of the programme was a workshop with representatives from district and city council administrations at project partner UIV, which focused on the mobility transition and ‘good advice’ for its implementation. As part of this, Mia Zellmann and Linda Dörrzapf presented the initial findings of the household survey on parking and the residential environment carried out in Vienna and Darmstadt.

The core idea of MBD15 is to reinvest revenue from parking fees in a targeted, local manner with the active participation of residents. The research project focuses on how Mobility Benefit Districts can contribute to liveable public spaces and the implementation of sustainable forms of mobility.
