Launch of the ADDHUB project: Using AI to create multifunctional mobility hubs of the future

A consortium of researchers and practitioners met in St. Pölten to launch the ADDHUB project. Over the next two and a half years, the focus will be on innovative business models and AI-powered planning tools to drive forward the mobility transition in medium-sized towns.

How can passenger transport, freight logistics and social services be brought together in a single central location? And how can cities plan such complex ‘mobility hubs’ in the best possible way? These questions lie at the heart of ADDHUB (Innovative business models and AI-supported planning tools for establishing multifunctional mobility hubs).

Interdisciplinary collaboration for the city of tomorrow

At the kick-off meeting at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, the project partners discussed the strategic direction and initial research steps. What makes ADDHUB unique is the close integration of various disciplines: experts in mobility and urban planning are working hand in hand with specialists in the fields of AI and data science.

This team ensures that the solutions developed are not only theoretically sound but also directly applicable to local government practice.

AI as a planning aid for local authorities

The primary aim of ADDHUB is to develop an AI-supported tool. It is intended to help medium-sized towns design multifunctional hubs, integrate public services and logistics sensibly into the existing urban fabric, and identify sustainable business models that ensure the long-term operation of these hubs.
