Looking back at the cycleFIT courses in the winter semester
During the winter semester, students worked in several courses, including the course “cycleFIT: Sustainable Mobility at TU Wien”, within the cycleFIT project on creative approaches to rethink cycling mobility at TU Wien. The aim was to make barriers visible, incorporate users’ perspectives, and develop innovative ideas for a bike-friendly university.
A central element of the courses was the creative activation of stakeholders. Students applied various methods to gather and reflect on experiences, needs, and ideas related to cycling at TU Wien. This resulted in a wide range of formats that went beyond traditional analysis and opened up new perspectives on the topic.
The outcomes ranged from spatial models and design concepts to short films and stop-motion contributions, as well as audio formats featuring voices from the community. These works were complemented by interactive formats, such as walks or playful routes through different TU Wien locations, allowing cycling mobility to be experienced directly on site. Best-practice research and conceptual ideas for future cycling-related services at TU Wien were also part of the projects.
The creative projects demonstrate the many different ways in which cycling mobility can be approached. At the same time, they provide valuable impulses for the further development of cycleFIT and for concrete measures to improve cycling infrastructure at TU Wien. The results therefore form an important basis for the next steps of the project and for future cycleFIT courses, in which students will continue to actively contribute to shaping a bike-friendly TU Wien.
