Is steel fiber reinforced concrete suitable for cyclic loading?

Meeting with collegues from PORR and VCE

We are excited to address this open research question together with our industry partners PORR Group and VCE Vienna Consulting Engineers ZT GmbH within the framework of our Bridge project FATIFIB founded by FFG Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH over the next three years.

Through this project, we aim to establish new scientific foundations for the safe application of steel fiber reinforced concrete in structural elements subjected to cyclic loading. A key objective is to reduce the amount of conventional reinforcing steel used in concrete construction, significantly decrease the installation effort associated with traditional bar reinforcement, and thereby contribute to greater sustainability and resource efficiency in structural engineering
