At the 867. Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Seminar on “Quantum Electron-Photon Interactions,” held in Prague from 21 to 24 September 2026, Isobel Bicket and Elias Pescoller were among those honoured for their contributions especially to quantum electron optics.
Isobel Bicket presented the experimental demonstration of entanglement between free electrons and photons in a transmission electron microscope, an important step towards new quantum imaging techniques in electron microscopy. Elias Pescoller presented a scheme for coupling free electrons to a trapped-ion quantum computer, opening new possibilities for quantum-enhanced measurements and low-dose electron microscopy.
The hot-topic talk and poster prizes thus recognise two contributions from TU Wien that connect electron microscopy with quantum technologies.
Warm congratulations to both!
