On June 17, we had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Kenichi Soga from UC Berkeley, opens an external URL in a new window to TU Wien, opens an external URL in a new window for a lunchtime seminar on Smart Infrastructure.

Kenichi opened with a thought-provoking question: how do we design infrastructure that stays adaptive over 100 years, when engineering careers, technologies, and societies are constantly changing? He shared a broad range of scientific and industrial perspectives, and showed how distributed sensing, digital twins, and city-scale modelling can help engineers anticipate threats and build more resilient networks.

It was wonderful to see colleagues from TU Wien, opens an external URL in a new window, other universities, companies, and organisations connect and exchange ideas long after the talk ended. A big thank you to Kenichi for the inspiring visit. We look forward to future collaborations!
