On 14 April 2026, MOVE welcomed around 30 researchers from the TRANSFORM network for a guided tour of Seestadt Aspern. Among the participants were 13 PhD candidates from various European universities and research institutions, including Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, DTU Copenhagen, VUB Brussels, LISER Luxembourg, ILS Dortmund, ZLC Zaragoza, and BOKU University.
The excursion took place as part of the TRANSFORM Academic Network School and focused on transformative mobility. As the participating PhD candidates conduct research in this field, Seestadt Aspern provided an opportunity to experience innovative approaches to mobility and urban development in practice.
Together with Andreas Neisen (Wien 3420 aspern Development AG), Florian Krückendorf guided the group through Seestadt Aspern. The tour included visits to the Seestadt showroom, pedestrian-oriented public spaces, mobility hubs, parks and open spaces, as well as the commercial courtyard and the Kulturgarage. At several stops, participants learned about planning approaches, mobility services, and the development of the district.
MOVE also presented the aspern.mobil LAB urban mobility laboratory, including its background, objectives, and research approach. In addition, participants gained insights into the aspern Seestadt mobility survey and related research activities, including the Seestadt mobility consulting service, a youth mobility study, and a senior mobility study.
