On June 24, sparks flew at the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe as RoboRangeln entered its fourth edition—this time with teams from TU Wien competing for the first time.
Inspired by RoboFetz, which was presented at the European Mechanical Engineering Students' Council Convention (EMESCC), TH OWL has been hosting the competition since 2023. Teams design and build their own remote-controlled robots, with only a few requirements: each robot must weigh at least 673 grams and consist primarily of 3D-printed components.
Three teams travelled from Vienna to take on the challenge. While Florian von Gäßler ("Rumkugel") and Jonah Byars ("Simsalabim") were narrowly defeated, Tobias Penthor emerged victorious. In a thrilling final, his robot "Bruce-E"claimed first place, bringing the title home to TU Wien.
