Experience Report: MoodleMoot DACH 2026

Three members of our LLT team once again attended the annual Moodle conference. This time, the event took place at ETH Zurich.

Our team had a lot of fun at this year’s Dev Camp once again.

“With its DevCamp and BarCamp format, MootDACH26 actively involves participants in shaping the program, is highly interactive overall, and offers plenty of room for creativity, networking, and exchange. The DevCamp is organized as a hackathon and especially encourages developers to get creative.” (moodlemoot.org)

Alissa Cenga:

I had the opportunity to attend MoodleMoot DACH for the second year in a row as part of TU Wien. It's always incredible seeing such an amazing community come together, exchange ideas and bring to life incredible projects. I worked along Anne my colleague from TU Wien and Stephan, a fellow Moodle enthusiast, to create a Moodle plugin which enables running PHPUnit tests directly through Moodle's Web Interface. This was an amazing learning experience and I'm looking forward to the next MoodleMoot DACH!

Anne Kreppenhofer: 

Two weeks ago, I attended the MoodleMoot Zürich DevCamp on behalf of TU Wien. In two days, my team and I developed a plugin that can help us test our plugins at home better. It was once again a great experience to meet so many other Moodle enthusiasts. Although we did not win, we had a great time, and I am happy that MoodleMoot will be back in Vienna again.

Katarzyna Potocka:

This years MoodleMoot DACH was organised by the amazing team from ETH Zurich and Antonia Bonaccorso. Although the TU Wien was only co-organiser, I had once again, as tradition dictates it, the honor to be the "entertainer" aka host for the first two days of the MoodleMoot DACH - the DevCamp. Every single year I am absolutely astonished how many people pitch amazing ideas they want to work on during those two days. This year out of 35 pitches we had 22 teams working on amazing ideas. From topics like "Make images smaller again", Login with QR-Code", to "Improve gradebook import", and "Automatic Farum translation", we had everything regarding administration, didactics, and obviously also AI.

The three winning teams were "Moodle Quiz Activity Monitor", "Activity Wizard", and "Bring your tutorials and support materials directly to Moodle".

Each MoodleMoot DACH I am absolutely impressed what people can achieve even in just two days, when you give them the space and time and opportunity to work in teams on projects they are passionate about.
