We are delighted that our postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Gernot Strasser, opens an external URL in a new window, has been awarded the Research Prize of the 1st Scientific Association for Project Management, opens an external URL in a new window (1WVPM) for his dissertation. The thesis, which was reviewed by Prof. Mauerhofer and Prof. Schwerdtner, impressively demonstrates why time constraints in high-risk construction contracts can only be offset by maintaining excess capacity. Accordingly, every time-related requirement in a construction contract should be thoroughly considered.
The award ceremony took place during the 1WVPM’s annual conference at the Schlosshotel Berlin, which Dr. Gernot Strasser and his doctoral advisor, Prof. Dr. Frank Lulei, attended. The award ceremony was part of an engaging conference program on German special funds for infrastructure and climate neutrality. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Racky presented the award. Prof. Klaus Eschenbruch delivered a laudatory speech praising the outstanding work and highlighting its innovative approach (construction contract law combined with a dynamic stochastic construction production theory).
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the board of 1WVPM - Prof. Mike Gralla, Ph.D., Eng., Michael Hiss, Prof. Elisabeth Krön, Ph.D., Eng., and Nicole Tuttas - for the invitation and the successful event. We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Gernot Strasser on this special award and are delighted by the visibility this brings to the research of the Institute for Construction Economics and Management beyond Austria’s borders. We also congratulate the second award winner, Ms. Cilla Mary Johnson MSc, opens an external URL in a new window, on her fascinating work on document management systems in complex infrastructure projects.
