In their new article “Do Rent Controls Have a (Side) Effect? A Reflection Using the Case Study of Cologne” Selim Banabak, Franziska Sielker, and Marlene Gerhalter from SRF discuss the effects of rent control on the housing market. Using the Cologne rental housing market as a case study, they examine rent-regulating instruments and shed light on their effects on affordability, maintenance, residential mobility, and housing distribution.
