The final report of the ESPON project “NoStaGeo: Territorial governance of non-standard geographies” is now available online following the recent completion of the research project.

The aim of the project was to take the analysis of functional territories a step further and shed light on spatial interrelations that go beyond the existing understanding of functional spaces. In doing so, the focus was particularly on gaining a deeper understanding of these “emerging non-standard geographies” and corresponding governance models. Based on pan-European analyses and specialised case studies, the four thematic areas of water management, industrial transformation, biodiversity, and energy savings were examined.

In collaboration with the lead partner Spatial Foresight and the other members of the consortium, the project was recently finalised. SRF played a key role in developing the research strategy and served as a thematic expert on industrial transition.
