Energy transition research exchange with Prof. Cheng (NCCU Taiwan) and City of Vienna at SRF

Professor An-Ting Cheng from National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan (NCCU) visited the SRF on 17 July 2026.

Professor Cheng works at the Department of Land Economics at NCCU where he studies the spatial dimension of and social conflicts in energy transition, while also advising policymakers on issues of energy spatial planning and sustainable land use. Our colleague Johannes Suitner organised an exchange meeting and presented his own work on energy transition and transformative governance. Hartmut Dumke (Research Unit Regional Planning and Regional Development) added insights from his work on integrated spatial and energy planning. Herbert Hemis (City of Vienna, Municipal Department 20 – Energy Planning) also shared practical insights from energy infrastructure transformation in Vienna.

All parties agreed to further collaborate on the topic in both research and teaching. We look forward to it!
