At the cycleFIT Breakfast on 29 January 2026, the project was presented at TU Wien in an informal setting, and possible initiatives were discussed with partners and interested participants. The event included a review of the first results from the course “Fokus Raumplanung – cycleFIT: Nachhaltig bewegen an der TU Wien” from the winter semester 2025/26, as well as an outlook on the cycleFIT work programme for 2026.
A key topic was the starting point provided by the TU Wien Mobility Survey 2023, which highlights the potential of cycling in everyday university life. In addition, initial evaluations and impressions from GIS analyses across several TU Wien locations were presented, including identified opportunities for improvement and expansion as well as existing spatial constraints.
The event also introduced several courses planned for the summer semester 2026, including “RadTUour – cycleFIT, opens an external URL in a new window”, “Design Studio – cycleFIT: Die Fahrrad-ReperaTUr, opens an external URL in a new window”, and “MOVE.Walks, opens an external URL in a new window”. Alongside these teaching activities, a series of initiatives throughout the year are planned, such as cycling action days, a crowdsourced collection of problem areas, and activities as part of the “Long Night of Research.”
The communication goal is clear: by the end of 2026, everyone at TU Wien should have heard of cycleFIT – and ideally already be involved.
