On 8 July 2026, Barbara Steinbrunner successfully completed her doctoral defense (Rigorosum). As part of the examination, she first delivered a 40-minute presentation outlining the key findings of her dissertation. This was followed by an 80-minute academic discussion, during which the examination committee posed questions in three rounds.

The dissertation, entitled "Baulandüberhang und die Rolle von Rückwidmungen in Österreich", makes an important scientific contribution to understanding the relationships between excess designated building land, downzoning, and sustainable land policy in Austria.
