The TU Wien Center for Research Data Management is proud to announce that it has successfully secured funding under the highly competitive EOSC Gravity Inter Project Call, opens an external URL in a new window. Being selected among only 23 funded projects Europe-wide represents a significant achievement and underlines both the maturity of DAMAP, opens an external URL in a new window and TU Wien’s strong positioning within the EOSC ecosystem.
The funded project, DAMAP@EOSC‑PL, opens an external URL in a new window, focuses on deploying DAMAP as a production-ready service within the Polish EOSC Node, opens an external URL in a new window. While the technical deployment and validation activities take place in Poland, the project delivers clear and tangible benefits for the Austrian research community as well. Austria, and TU Wien in particular, has been actively shaping EOSC for several years. This project builds directly on that role by allowing us to advance DAMAP within a real EOSC Node environment and to do so faster and more systematically than would be possible through national activities alone.
DAMAP has recently been released as a cloud service in Austria, and DAMAP@EOSC‑PL complements this by testing DAMAP in a second national context with different organisational structures, funder requirements, and operational constraints. By deploying DAMAP first in Poland and closely collaborating with the Polish EOSC Node, we gain valuable practical experience in service onboarding, integration, and operation at the federation level. These insights flow back directly into our Austrian services and strengthen our preparedness for EOSC Shared Services.
Crucially, the DAMAP@EOSC-PL project goes beyond software development. It addresses what is often the hardest part of EOSC participation: running a stable, trustworthy, and sustainable service. Through real-world operation, scientific use cases, and a dedicated sustainability roadmap, the project helps clarify operational responsibilities, cost models, legal frameworks, and long-term governance. This knowledge benefits not only Polish partners but also Austrian universities and research institutions that are preparing to consume or offer services within EOSC.
