Whilst there were fewer people in the corridors during the semester break, the lecture halls were a hive of activity. The facilities management team of the GUT used the break to bring the infrastructure at the Freihaus campus up to scratch for the future.

Efficiency meets luminosity

A total of five lecture halls with a combined floor area of 722 sqm have been subjected to a comprehensive lighting modernisation. The old light sources have been replaced by modern LED technology.

The results are impressive:

• Greater brightness: The new LED lighting provides significantly improved illumination of workstations, helping to promote concentration.
• Sustainability: The switch has led to a massive reduction in energy consumption, making an important contribution to the university’s climate strategy.

Smart control & comfort

In addition to the hardware, the control system has also been modernised. Thanks to newly installed motion detectors, the light output is automatically dimmed when the room is unoccupied – ensuring no energy is wasted on empty rooms.

Power for your studies: sockets at every seat

Particularly good news for students: as part of the modernisation, the power supply in the large lecture theatres has been extended to each individual seat. This means that running out of laptop battery during lectures is now a thing of the past.
