Final Presentation: "Airy Architecture – Mobile Spaces Made of Membranes"

On 17 June, the final presentation of the Experimental Building Construction module took place at the Materials Science Research Unit. The institute's spacious and exceptionally well-equipped facilities provided the ideal setting for presenting five distinct and independent projects, bringing the semester's theme, "Airy Architecture – Mobile Spaces Made of Membranes," to an inspiring conclusion.

The projects demonstrated how experimental material research, spatial lightness, and constructive design thinking can merge into innovative architectural concepts. The high quality of the presentations was further enhanced by the inspiring atmosphere of the institute—a place that offers ideal conditions for exchange, prototyping, and collaborative work.

In addition to the teaching team—Manfred Berthold, Karl Deix, Carolin Lotz-Ramirez, and Matthias Zibuschka—we were pleased to welcome the external guests Vinzenz Sedlak, Volker Dienst, and P. Michael Schultes, whose thoughtful and constructive feedback made a valuable contribution to the discussions.

We are especially pleased that this semester will result in a publication documenting the projects, design processes, and insights gained, while highlighting the significance of experimental teaching in the field of membrane architecture.
