On the beautiful sunny spring evening of May 18, 2022 Alice Schmidt, Global Leader on Sustainability & Social Impact, Author, Advisor and Speaker, took the time to look at the complexity and importance of the challenges humanity is facing in our times. Together with the participating guests, she explored how looking at the bigger picture and then zooming in on climate action, circularity and social transformation can improve health, wealth and wellbeing for all.

Alice Schmidt started off with one of the main questions: Are we part of the problem or part of the solution?

One of the basic problems was illuminated right at the beginning. How do we see the world? How do we see ourselves as part of this world? We all already grew up with having a certain mindset. That´s where we have to start to make first changes. "Mindsets must shift: from ego to eco." Alice is convinced. But that´s also what differentiates one generation and another.

"We are playing a dangerous game." Our expert compared our current situation, how people, businesses, countries behave with the game Jenga. The more bricks we take out of the game the more and higher risks are at stake.

Many, partially very direct, questions were brought up, such as: Can you be economically successful and save the world at the same time? What does climate change have to do with economic justice Why do we need to stop Mickey Mouse Thinking? How to defend yourself against greenwashing? Questions, our participants were faced with constantly during one hour filled with lots of information, definitions and also, Alice Schmidt has not forgotten this, tips and solutions on how each and every one of us can make the first steps (let´s say footprints) in the right direction. The only direction for a better future, for our all wellbeing. "Our earth doesn´t need those changes. We, the people, need radical changes though to survive in the long run." Alice emphasized.

Nature, business and other players. This sustainability puzzle has many pieces that need to be illuminated and openly shown. We cannot ignore all these pieces any more. But there is hope at the end of the day. Businesses, who do not just greenwash but offer realistic sustainable solutions for a better tomorrow. Keyword: Using Tech for Good. New initiatives, individuals, activists, our upcoming generations who grew up with a different mindset, who do stress players with power to make changes, go on the streets and make them listen. This is what we need, we just need more of it every day.

Alice Schmidt and her insights were radical and necessary at the same time, eye opening on one part, a confirmation on truths on the other. A successful evening all in all with definitely a lot of thoughts to take home with.
