Astrid Grantner MSc MRICS has been responsible for real estate valuation in the EHL Group for more than five years and has been managing director since the independent company was founded in 2017. She has successfully built up a team of 13 experts and has made EHL Immobilien Bewertung GmbH (https://www.ehl.at/evaluation, opens an external URL in a new window) the leading independent valuation company in Austria. Ms. Grantner studied real estate management and valuation at the TU Wien, is a member of the RICS and a courtcertified expert. Ms. Grantner is also a member of the board of directors of the ImmoABS graduate association and a member of Salon Real. In addition to her professional activity, Ms. Grantner is a lecturer at the TU Wien Academy for Continuing Education.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

You “grow with the challenges” as the saying goes - in retrospect it is difficult for me to grasp which was the biggest one. Perhaps it is also because challenges have always attracted me much more than sticking to the status quo.

In what ways did the qualifications acquired during the MSc program help you meet these challenges?

With the MSc program, you acquire specialist know-how at the highest level - you have the chance to learn from experts who really talk “inside out” during these courses. That means you have the chance to benefit from a wealth of knowledge and experience that you would otherwise not be able to access. In addition, a network opens up from which you can benefit far beyond your studies. Especially when it comes to tricky technical questions or assessments, you can always pick up the phone and get valuable input.

What (professional and / or private) goals have you set yourself for the next ten years? Which future topics should real estate managers be concerned with?

I have to admit that I am not one of those people who set such specific long-term goals. It is important to me to drive forward the development of EHL Immobilien Bewertung GmbH together with my great team every day. From my daily work as a real estate service manager, I see the entire HR area as one of the most important issues. And that is actually not an issue for the future, but requires full attention now. In addition, the topic of ESG will of course have a decisive influence on everyone in the industry in the coming years.

You have completed the cycle of knowledge exchange by returning to your alma mater as a lecturer. What new experiences did you have as a lecturer?

I particularly enjoy lecturing. It's nice to have direct contact to newcomers in the industry in this way, it's exciting to hear their assessments and future expectations. I am also active in the ImmoABS graduate association, where we have set ourselves the goal of networking - especially with young graduates.

Are you still in contact with fellow students or lecturers?

Yes, the contacts have remained - naturally in different forms. The nice thing is to know, even if you haven't contacted one or the other for a long time, that you can still call at any time and are welcome!
