20 Years TTL

Rural Innovation in Focus

Over the past two decades, TTL has grown from early work on snow sciences and winter tourism innovations into an internationally recognized platform addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges: climate change, rural transformation, sustainability, digitalisation, and resilience of landscapes.
Hosted by Meinhard Breiling, the workshop brought together experts from:
- The University of Tokyo
- BOKU University
- TU Wien

Through concise presentations and impulsive statements, participants shared diverse perspectives on rural innovation - from place branding and geographical indications, transformative agrifood systems, and multi-stakeholder cooperativism, to renewable energy in mountain regions, snow and ice research, abandoned landscapes, and innovative funding models.
The discussions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in shaping future-ready rural landscapes and laid the groundwork for continued collaboration beyond the anniversary year.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, contributors, and partners for making this milestone event both inspiring and forward-looking. We look forward to the next chapter of TTL and the innovations ahead.
