2026: A record year for our training mission
This week, our research unit is wrapping up the third intensive, week-long advanced training course for wastewater treatment plant operators of 2026, co-organised with ÖWAV - Österreichischer Wasser- und Abfallwirtschaftsverband.
We usually host two courses per year, but due to overwhelming demand driven by the generational shift in plant staff, we added a third session.
The result? By Friday we will have successfully trained more than 150 operators over the course of the year.
This represents a significant effort for our team: most of us are serving as trainers on the ground, covering everything from biological fundamentals to advanced treatment processes. The schedule is intense—not only for the participants, but also for our scientists, who are deeply committed to transferring cutting-edge knowledge to the next generation of operators.
It’s demanding. It’s rewarding. And it is vital for the future of water management in Austria.
